--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Booting Procedures:

Method 1

1. Place the Game Shark CD in your PS2 and let it boot

2. When the disk stops spinning in the first page of the Game Shark menu, press EJECT

3. Swap the CD with your backup

4. Click on "Start Game"

5. Click on "Start Game Without Codes" quickly

6. Keep hitting "x" repeatedly until the screen turns black, which means the game is working.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Method 2

1. Boot the PS2

2. Insert the Game Shark disc and dongle

3. Turn off the PS2

4. Turn on the PS2 and hold the reset button until the blue license screen appears

5. Release the reset button

6. Swap discs

7. Choose start game and with codes, then hit X.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Method 3

(This method can be used to boot EA games using an Game Shark/Action Replay version 1.4 or higher and a version 4 PS 2.)

1. While holding down RESET, boot Game Shark/Action Replay (version 1.4 or higher)

2. Select "Start Game - Without Codes"

3. Release the RESET button

4. After the disc ejects, the screen will display "Press X to Continue"

5. Don't press X, but swap the CD with your backup

6. Press "O" + "R1" + "R2" (If this doesn't work, try "O" + "L1")

7. The unpatched game should now load

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Method 4

This method works for most games, and sometimes (but not always) for EA sports games.

1. Turn on your PS2 and press the eject button. Insert the Gameshark CD and dongle, then press the eject button again to close the CD tray.

2. Let the Gameshark load to the first menu screen. Wait about 10 seconds or so after it loads.

3. Press eject and quickly insert the backup copy, close the CD tray yourself, do not press eject to close it. Time is of the essence, you must do this quickly.

4. Quickly choose start games, then choose with codes or without codes. (Try without first, if that doesn't load try with codes.

5. When it says press X to continue, instead of hitting X press O, R1, and R2 at the same time. (If that doesn't load try O and the L1 button at the same time.)

6. The key is step 5. Listen carefully, when you insert the backup CD-R. When the tray first closes the load stops for a second then starts again. The time to press O, R1, and R2 is at that point. O and L1 may work if the first attempt doesn't.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Shark Dongle Reset

If you upgraded your Game Shark/Action Replay dongle and wish to downgrade, you must first reset the dongle. This can be done the following way:

1. Insert your Game Shark dongle and Game Shark CD.

2. Hold down on all four shoulder buttons (L1, L2, R1, R2) and the Start button.

3. Turn on and boot the PlayStation 2, while still holding down on said buttons.

4. After the system has finished booting, you should be given an option to reset to factory settings. Press X to reset.

It is to be noted that this method has been reported to not always work on the first try. It may take several tries, but it has been confirmed as the correct method of reverting to factory defaults. Additionally, you will lose any saves to your Game Shark.
